Vancouver Christmas Light Installation
This winter when deciding on who you want to have install your Christmas lights in Vancouver, think of the following issues:
1) Insurance - does the company quoting you have liability insurance and WCB? If not, you are asking for nightmare should something go wrong. We have $5 million in insurance and are covered by WCB. In the tragic event an employee of University All In One gets injured at your home, you are safe from all liability. Our WCB will take care of the worker. If something was to happen to your home while we are working or even after we have completed the job our insurance will cover the costs. If you hire someone without insurance or WCB you run the risk of having to pay for all costs incurred by the event. In todays environment that can mean millions of dollars!
2) Guarantees - does the company quoting you guarantee the lights they sell or rent to you? At University All In One we guarantee the lights that you purchase/rent from us will work, and if they do not we will replace them free of charge. This guarantee covers you for 2 years, provided you have us take the lights down in January/February. Also, does the company quoting you guarantee their workmanship for the duration of the holidays? We guarantee the Christmas lights that we put up! If a strand falls out of place prior to January 15th, we will come and fix it free of charge!
These are crucial questions to ask when deciding on your Christmas light installation service provider.

Vancouver Brick & Concrete Sealing
I just wanted to make everyone aware of a part of our business we haven’t discussed but do a lot of.
With the help of BC Brick referring us since last summer, we have done over 50 brick and concrete sealing jobs in the lower mainland over the last two years. We take great pride in the transformation that takes place when someone has us come and clean off old mold and dirt and we seal it, making it look like new again.
The process for brick sealing entails: power wash bricks, let the bricks and sand in the cracks dry, spread sand over the patio/driveway using a large broom so sand falls into the cracks, blow off sand that is on the surface of the bricks, and thoroughly seal the area with a pump sprayer full of top quality sealant from BC Brick.
If you are tired of looking at your brick and concrete patios and cringing, give us a call. We will make your patio/driveway look new again!
Time for a Power Wash?
It’s that time of the year again for the work to begin that allows us to fully enjoy our patios!
Nothing beats a good ol’ pressure washing especially in Vancouver where the rain and cloud reeks havoc on concrete and bricks. Here in Vancouver we have a perfect mix of rain and cloud in the winter that help grow mold and moss. To get rid of the mess created from the winter and fall, grab your phone and give us a call. We have been pressure washing patios of all types for a number of years and take pride in the joy our clients have when they see how good there patio can look.
To book in your power washing, just give us a call or request a quote today!

Thanks and have a great day!

Home Renovation Tax Credit
Who loves saving money?
If you’re like me, you do too!
In 2009 the Canadian Government announced that they are giving homeowners a 15% tax credit for products and labour associated with home improvement.
Eligible expenses must be greater than $1,000 and less than $10,000. The maximum credit available is $1,350 ($9,000 x 15%). The great thing about a tax credit is it is applied to your final tax owing. ie. If you owe the government $1,000 in taxes and you have a tax credit of $1,000 then you actually owe $0.
To get the credit you must show the CRA documentation, that we can provide you, that the work was done before February 1, 2010. Our invoice is all you need for proper documentation.
The following services that we provide are eligible for the 2009 Home Renovation Tax Credit:
- Exterior Painting
- Interior Painting
- Garden Bed Installation
- Perennial & Shrub Installation
- Sod Installation
- Tree Installation
- Rock Installation
- Irrigation Installation
- Brick Installation
- Brick Sealing
- Concrete Sealing
- Retaining Walls
- Landscape Curbs
Contact us today to see how we can help you get money back from the government on projects you were thinking about doing this year.
Happy 2009!

Lawn Care Tips
People are very proud of their lawns and we are proud of the lawns that we manage. For those people looking to make their lawn more green and fun to play on here are a few tips. (This tips are universal, but I am speaking to the crowd in the Northwest)
- Fertilize. This should be done 4-6 times per year. Minimally 2 times. There are two types of fertilizers: 1) Warm season and 2) Cool season. Warm season fertilizers should be applied in late spring and again in the summer when growing is at it’s peak. Cool season fertilizers should be applied in early spring and early fall when growing is just starting/ending. Make sure that when you apply fertilizer in the warm months that the lawn is watered to wash the fertilizer off the grass blades into the soil.
- Dethatch. This should be done in the spring(April/May) when the grass is actively growing. Dethatching removes old dead grass, stems and roots. Dethatching allows the lawn to grow back fuller and lusher. Rake up the thatch that comes from underneath the power dethatcher and prepare for a lot of bags of recycling.
- Aerate. This should be done in the spring(April/May) and early fall(September). Aerating pulls up the soil and creates cores on the lawn. This allows air and water to penetrate the soil. Leave the cores on the lawn and over the next couple weeks they will disappear from watering/rain/regular lawn mowing.
- When doing a spring clean up of your lawn, one should always do it in the following steps: 1) Dethatch, 2) Aerate and 3) Fertilize and/or overseed.
For more lawn care tips check back in the coming week.
