Lastly, a question sometimes we get is, “who would pay to get their Christmas Lights put up!?” The fact is a lot of people do and for all the same reasons. We have commercial grade ladders that will reach your top peaks. We love working in the rain and snow 20′ up! We are young, strong, and motivated so working in terrible conditions on a roof is not going to ruin our day. We install a lot of lights so we know what we are doing. We have the time to spend 1+ hours putting the lights up, because you are paying us! :)

Think about what I just said. Let it sink in… Do you want to deal with putting up lights when you get can it done by professionals at an affordable price?

Have a great Halloween and I look forward to hearing about your costume while we go over your Christmas Light Installation needs!

Ryan

Home Renovation Tax Credit

Who loves saving money?

If you’re like me, you do too!

In 2009 the Canadian Government announced that they are giving homeowners a 15% tax credit for products and labour associated with home improvement.

Eligible expenses must be greater than $1,000 and less than $10,000. The maximum credit available is $1,350 ($9,000 x 15%). The great thing about a tax credit is it is applied to your final tax owing. ie. If you owe the government $1,000 in taxes and you have a tax credit of $1,000 then you actually owe $0.

To get the credit you must show the CRA documentation, that we can provide you, that the work was done before February 1, 2010. Our invoice is all you need for proper documentation.

The following services that we provide are eligible for the 2009 Home Renovation Tax Credit:
- Exterior Painting
- Interior Painting
- Garden Bed Installation
- Perennial & Shrub Installation
- Sod Installation
- Tree Installation
- Rock Installation
- Irrigation Installation
- Brick Installation
- Brick Sealing
- Concrete Sealing
- Retaining Walls
- Landscape Curbs

Contact us today to see how we can help you get money back from the government on projects you were thinking about doing this year.

Happy 2009!

Lawn Care Tips

People are very proud of their lawns and we are proud of the lawns that we manage. For those people looking to make their lawn more green and fun to play on here are a few tips. (This tips are universal, but I am speaking to the crowd in the Northwest)

- Fertilize. This should be done 4-6 times per year. Minimally 2 times. There are two types of fertilizers: 1) Warm season and 2) Cool season. Warm season fertilizers should be applied in late spring and again in the summer when growing is at it’s peak. Cool season fertilizers should be applied in early spring and early fall when growing is just starting/ending. Make sure that when you apply fertilizer in the warm months that the lawn is watered to wash the fertilizer off the grass blades into the soil.

- Dethatch. This should be done in the spring(April/May) when the grass is actively growing. Dethatching removes old dead grass, stems and roots. Dethatching allows the lawn to grow back fuller and lusher. Rake up the thatch that comes from underneath the power dethatcher and prepare for a lot of bags of recycling.

- Aerate. This should be done in the spring(April/May) and early fall(September). Aerating pulls up the soil and creates cores on the lawn. This allows air and water to penetrate the soil. Leave the cores on the lawn and over the next couple weeks they will disappear from watering/rain/regular lawn mowing.

- When doing a spring clean up of your lawn, one should always do it in the following steps: 1) Dethatch, 2) Aerate and 3) Fertilize and/or overseed.

For more lawn care tips check back in the coming week.

The New All-In-One BLOG!

This is what we’re thinking…

Here at University All In One we pride ourselves on knowing our business.  We like to think of ourselves as experts in the fields of exterior paintings, landscaping, and lawn care services.  The problem is that we can not always be in your yard to keep things in tip top shape.  There are a lot of small and relatively simple tasks that can be done by our clients on a daily regular basis which will keep your yards looking their best.

The point of this blog is to hopefully provide a portal of information for our clients who want to take full advantage of our knowledge and experience.  It is our hope that this space on our website will be used to offer everything from lawn care tips to product reviews and recommendations.  We feel very strongly that working with you as a team is the best way to achieve your desired result!  This can only be done if our clients are informed and knowledgeable about what they should be doing when we are not around.  Hopefully this blog will help us do this!

Check back frequently for new updates, tricks, tips, and promotions!
